Deus Ex: Human Revolution Ultimate Edition – Mac

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Ultimate Edition is starting to appear in online stores, including the Mac App Store. It’s set 25 years before the first Deus Ex. Being the “Ultimate Edition” it has “The Missing Link DLC”, and the “Tactical Enhancement” and “Explosive Mission” expansion packs.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution first came out for Windows in August of 2011, developed by Eidos Montreal, published by Square Enix. Feral Interactive is the Mac OS X developer and publisher. There are a lot of words used to describe it and its setting – cyberpunk is probably one of the most concise, but science fiction, stealthy, roleplaying, action, adventure all fit as well.

It does have an “M” for Mature rating (17 and older).

Please check the requirements below – OS X 10.7.3 is the minimum OS version.

In addition to the extra content and downloadable content, you also get:
– 44-minute documentary about the making of Deus Ex: Human Revolution
– 40-page book (digital) of design and concept art
– Motion comic
– Soundtrack composed by Michael McCann
– Three trailers

Feral Interactive’s Description:

When former SWAT commander Adam Jensen is forced to undergo cybernetic augmentation, he discovers that the boundary between man and machine is a point of no return. Uncover the truth behind a global conspiracy in a first-person role-playing game where you must combine combat, stealth, hacking and social interaction to determine the course of human evolution.

In a world where amoral corporations market biomechanical modifications and those who protest against them are silenced, only those who adapt survive. Discover the true potential of your augmentations and manipulate Adam’s body into your perfect machine.

Immerse yourself in strikingly inventive futuristic visions of Detroit and Shanghai, where cyberpunk sensibility meets Renaissance aesthetic. Explore every corner of these cities to uncover hundreds of secrets.

I have played it on PC, and it had a very “sandbox-like” feel – Feral refers to it as “open-ended gameplay” but result is the same – there is a lot of interactivity with the world. I loved the first one, which came out back in 2000.

The original Mac version of the first Deus Ex, being that it came out over 10 years ago, is only playable under Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X “Classic” environment, which means for the most part, you can’t play it on an Intel Mac. You are better off obtaining the Windows version and running it under CrossOVer, Wine, or even Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox. You can buy the original Windows version in a digital/downloadable package, the “Game of the Year” edition through Steam. The original Deus Ex is usually at or near the top of many “best PC games” lists.

If you want to purchase Deus Ex: Human Revolution through the GameAgent Store, it looks like it will be available May 1st, 2012. The boxed edition is not availabe yet.
